Look its fanart!
Hi blogger! enjoy some fanart that didn't make it up on paperlinks.org mainly because I drew it last night!
You know. I really enjoy the rabbit catching portion of spirit tracks, but i really hate the flute portion. all that blowing can be hard you know? especially when you can get exhausted from going out to lunch.
I also think that maybe I should just draw regency style stuff all my life because boy do i love some austen.
i'm calling him mr. knightley but he started out as random guy with a delicious nose. |
he wants all the rabbits. all of them. |

The Gauntlet - day 5
oh little sisters. they can be so cute and annoying |
The Gauntlet - day 4
July 4th's character is part of the story line that the previous 2 posts as well as the upcoming 3 posts are from.
If you're curious why these images are such low quality, its because I'm only going to post the "finished" version on Paperlinks which I'm now contributing to!

The Gauntlet- 31 Characters- day 3.
I don't really like posting things late, but oh well. I haven't been home.
this is the father character in a comic idea I have. it will be a very short story if i ever get around to it.

31 days of Characters- day 2's post.
no name metropolitan bride to be! |
anyways. ruth has been nice enough to invite me (wednesday) and breena(thursday) to start posting weekly on Paperlinks along with herself (friday?) and rachel (tuesday). how long will we remember to make weekly posts? the world may never know. anyways. if you'd like to see any of our progress on this project (with added steroids) head on over to PL or to any of their blogs.
31 days of Characters- day 1's post.
As Ruth so kindly mentions in her post on July 2nd (or, more likely, July 1st at like 12:01am) I created a new 30 day challenge since I finished my 30 days of portraits. Originally, I just made it up for Rachel since she loves to create and redesign her characters. I thought it would motivate her (even when she is busy) to draw and post on her blog everyday. But the the challenge has been set. I must also attempt the impossible and try to draw 31 (since july has 31 days) of my very own original characters. Now, I don't think that I actually have 31 legitimate characters, but we shall see.
I have also been in san francisco hanging with those girls for the past six days, so i haven't exactly been motivated enough to push rachel out of her computer chair and to struggle with her comp set up so I can post here. So instead I'll try to catch up by double or triple posting here everyday.

my phone just did a creepy thing.
it turned itself on even though it was never off.
also i just got home today from spending a week (okay 6 days) in sf. those six days started off with a great visit to the De Young museum. I saw all the balenciaga dresses again and drew more of them! I also just started a new sketchbook and it only took me 4 days to figure out that the pages don't hold pencil well.
beware. it gets ramble-y after this.

not to mention this little nun-ish number that is not only navy, but incredibly cute! |

portrait 29
my 30 days of portraits are almost done. only today's left to draw. it'll feel a little strange not drawing myself everyday but i'll just be moving on to new projects. i have 30 days of posts still going on with rachel. (today is day 14, but today's post for that will go with my number 30 portrait post.)

dress times
here's a great balenciaga dress i saw at the de young last weekend. i want to go again this week before the exhibit ends and before all the bank of america card holders get in free, both of which happen this weekend. we'll see how that goes. considering there's only two days left this week.
portrait 28
i've had a friend mention how much she always wished for a rounder face. she always thought that type of moon shaped face was really beautiful. I only found this out when she mentioned that my face was that shape.

26th of june
after getting home and sleeping off my hangover (which wasn't too bad except for the bags under my eyes and the light headache) i drew in the sunshine.
another balenciaga dress. and a sleeping corgi |
25th of june
a lot of time on saturday was spent playing grown up dress up. or rather, just getting ready to go places. also imaginary dress up were you just do it in your head.
drunken drawing with a balenciaga dress? yes! |
24th of june
on friday i headed into the city for a weekend of fun and much needed escape. it just so happened that i got to have both well celebrating the birthday of one fabulous miss rachel.
the above is 2 of the 6 pages of quick sketches done on my bart ride. there were so many giants shirts everywhere that i was slightly sad that i wasn't also heading to the game. but you know what?

portrait 23
i didnt really have time today to draw anything besides my portrait for the day, so that will have to suffice. i was creative in other ways though. like being awesome at vacuuming. and like actually putting sheets on my bed. and re-arranging all the crap that was on my bed so that it's no longer there. also its really late. i need to sleep!

22nd
it was really nice temperature-wise today, so it felt really nice to relax a bit. but it also was great to actually want to do something like obsessively clean the house as well as i could. well i didn't do much besides cleaning the bathroom, dusting and cleaning all the mirrors in the house. but then again, we're out of furniture polish and it wasn't cool enough to make me want to vacuum. but there's always tomorrow for that.
it was extra nice to clean since i was the only one home for a few hours...

comics are hard!
note: this was the post i was going to do yesterday.
i spent a majority of the day wallowing in the heat. but i also spent a portion looking at historical references for the comic project with rach. i feel like i could drown in all the possible info. so i've come to the conclusion that writing a historical comic (historical in the sense that the characters are set down in a very specific time period and must still adhere to the rules and social complexities of their settings) is hard. but thank you amazon and my no money I've found a few sources that could be very exciting to flip through or you know, actually read. i'm pretty excited about checking out if the local bibliotech has some of these resources. but i'm also pretty sad cause i'd rather work on getting this info down instead of reading the pile of novels i've already checked out of the library. if only i actually felt like reading! if only i could finish a book in an hour! oh the horror that i read incredibly slowly but have equally incredible comprehension as a result!
anyways. portrait in the next post since i haven't drawn it yet.
instead have some james bard with a bg since i didnt draw coli or any of the other characters from this endeavor.

today's failures
blogger won't post my images today but hopefully the issue will be resolved soon. til then you'll just have to trust that i drew some stuff today. like a pic of bard since rach inspired me with her awesome post today.

tensions flare in the summer heat
you know how people say that tensions flare in the heat? its really true. well it sure helps to have MONTHS of tension build up before hand, but anyways.
today was a really bad day. except that i had a donut for breakfast. that's pretty awesome.

i had a pretty crappy day. to make it worse, it was really hot. its supposed to be super hot tomorrow and tuesday as well. i'm not looking forward to 90-100 degree temps. i'm also not looking forward to what it does to my motivation to draw.
i didn't want to draw ANYTHING tonight. not even the portrait. but i forced myself. i put on some music and did my favorite thing. drawing over a blotch of color.
i really love doing this. it reminds me of retro art and printmaking. it also forces me to start looking at everything in such a manner that i want to draw.

today is the weirdest. just sketchy portraits tonight. the shirt i was wearing today kept making my boobs look huge. it was embarrassing since i stayed home all day. i made weird poses in the mirror. it was strange. and kinda creeps. i'll draw that pose better some day. it would be awesome for a monster to do. and of course.

thirty (2)- day 2
today i did some more watercolors
my sister wanted to play with watercolor in the lovely afternoon sun. so i joined her. almost immediately she was jealous of how i was able to paint flowers. so she asked me to teach her how to to paint like i do. so we painted lavender. then i painted a small pansy bouquet since my mother's birthday is coming up and she likes to collect tiny paintings of pansies. all it needs is a frame.
portrait 17 and 30 days
sometimes having a sister is awesome. sometimes its like wading through a ton of shit. today was one of those days.

portrait 16
yesterday was beautiful weatherwise. so it was awesomely spent in the following ways:
1. sleeping in
2. eating an extra delicious, healthy, and fresh breakfast
3. eating slices of watermelon
4. playing fetch with a very happy dog
5. inking comic pages and discussing them, and
6. with my hair in the most ridiculous do, which required every hair clip i had with me.
also. my sunglasses are awesome.

today's portrait comes early hurrah!
also can you believe it? i've done 15 self portrait things. amazing. also it means that june is half over!
it is totally hot enough today to wear the dress from portrait 10.

resume the resume
today i got all frustrated about writing cover letters and resumes. its so confusing. how do you write/design one that will catch a potential employer's eye? also what the hell is an objective statement? i actually got that work done though. and i was so sad too. when i finished the cl and resume i was working on, i was really proud. unfortunately all the formatting went to crap. the job i was applying for wanted plain text! so sad.
so today is a special (?) portrait. its animooted. unfortunately, not very well, and its not really "polished." oh well it was still fun!

monday's portrait
i was going to make a portrait inspired by klimpt/moreau and talk about how certain time periods influence me, but instead i drew some princess time.
today i tried to watch kiss me kate, but i got like 30 min in and had to stop. its so hard to watch shakespeare anything when you've already seen it once, or twice, or 3 times. (i've watched taming of the shrew at least 6 times).

dressie dress
i bought this dress last summer and i really love it. but i haven't worn it yet this year since when i do think about wearing it, its either too cold or i need to shave my legs. considering the next week is going to be warmer, i'll probably end up wearing it soon. yay dresstimes!
newwwwww bangs
well not really. today (or yesterday the 9th) is my nana's birthday. she's 77 this year. so we had a family dinner at her favorite mexican restaurant. before me and my sister drove down to the dinner, I took it upon myself to cut my bangs. they were getting ridiculously long.
it even inspired today's portrait. and there are two things to notice. 1. i always think i'm thinner than i actually am (unless i'm in a dressing room. then all hope is lost and i feel like a killer whale). and 2. I like my bangs short. like almost half way between my hairline and eyebrows short.
bonus realization: 3. the font for my post titles is perfect for today. it totally makes you read it with teen girl squad intonations.

dear interwebs.
today i watched TWO baseball games. I also watched a whole mess of TLC (gypsy weddings AND extreme couponing). I also made dinner tonight. i should have taken a picture. it was delicious. i made boneless skinless chicken breasts that were both flavorful and moist. quite a feat.
8 days of portraits. i'm pretty impressed that i've been able to keep drawing these despite my own laziness. its interesting to see that 1. i cant draw myself properly and 2. that my style tends to vary from day to day.
i guess i really should stop being so lazy and scan some sketches tomorrow. but hey i did say tomorrow!
also, watching that tlc show about travellers/gypsies makes me understand a part of hot fuzz better. bonus!

the newest host of the view
sometimes i spend my night thinking about how nice it would be to go to sleep early and actually wake up while it's still morning. but then i remember the view is aired in the morning. and then i hate each woman who hosts that show just a little more as my face contorts into a very serious scowl.
today's portrait is a tribute to my hate for the view.

i've been watching a lot of adventure time recently. my dvd drive on my comp randomly decides to quit working but i'm too broke to get the connections checked out (i know its the connections since i've tried every other solution i've found online). but adventure time is readily accessible on the youtubs. so today is in that kind of style. thoughhhhhhhhhh I doubt i'd look like this if i was a character on that show.

today's portrait is done as a nesting doll or matryoshka. i used to have a set of these when i was younger and i suppose some of them are around still. probably in the garage.

portrait 3! i also drew hourlies (minus a couple hours) today (6/3) but they're not ready to see the light of day.

hairrrrrrr
my hair is doing some interesting stuff tonight. its like flat and straight on top but really poofy and wavey (almost curly) as soon as it hits my ears. yay humidity actually letting my hair do something other than lay flat.
i was going to like scan sketches and things but instead i drew this for you all! also i gotta tell someone. i didnt sleep at all last night but this afternoon i came home and "napped" for four hours. but luckily i'm still tired. maybe i'll actually get some decent sleep tonight.

midnight postin! yeah!
no art for you today. instead a deep look into my inner workings. well not really that deep.
please enjoy this photo i found in the garage. I'm about 90% sure it's actually me. because the hair looks like mine. by the time my older sister was that age her hair was longer. but we did look really similar when we were little.
besides bursts of emotion and disbelief, i am also prone to shaking presents to figure out exactly what they are.

i just finished watching the rest of pride and prejudice with colin firth and jennifer ehle. so good. though i have to admit there are somethings that i love about the 2005 version. like when elizabeth first gets the letter about the elopement and she keeps going in and out of the doors. but it was great to watch a longer version that had all of the daughters and a lot more of everything.
so of course i had to draw something for it.

i wonder if i'll be able to even get through half of this movie tonight. hmn a whole nother hour to watch before part 2.
