30days finished!

one of the stories i've grown up with is this family myth that my great aunt was a california raisin girl. like the girl that is pictured on a number of sunmaid raisin boxes.  this sort of idea as well as the fact that i always love the fruit crates that feature someone carrying a basket of fruit really inspired me to do this. well... i also went to the farmers market and ate a ton of fresh delicious cheap fruit today.

my 30 days of portraits are almost done. only today's left to draw.  it'll feel a little strange not drawing myself everyday but i'll just be moving on to new projects. i have 30 days of posts still going on with rachel. (today is day 14, but today's post for that will go with my number 30 portrait post.)

i've had a friend mention how much she always wished for a rounder face.  she always thought that type of moon shaped face was really beautiful.  I only found this out when she mentioned that my face was that shape.

26th of june

after getting home and sleeping off my hangover (which wasn't too bad except for the bags under my eyes and the light headache) i drew in the sunshine.

25th of june

 a lot of time on saturday was spent playing grown up dress up. or rather, just getting ready to go places. also imaginary dress up were you just do it in your head.

24th of june

on friday i headed into the city for a weekend of fun and much needed escape.  it just so happened that i got to have both well celebrating the birthday of one fabulous miss rachel.

the above is 2 of the 6 pages of quick sketches done on my bart ride.  there were so many giants shirts everywhere that i was slightly sad that i wasn't also heading to the game. but you know what?

i didnt really have time today to draw anything besides my portrait for the day, so that will have to suffice.  i was creative in other ways though. like being awesome at vacuuming. and like actually putting sheets on my bed. and re-arranging all the crap that was on my bed so that it's no longer there. also its really late. i need to sleep!

22nd

it was really nice temperature-wise today, so it felt really nice to relax a bit. but it also was great to actually want to do something like obsessively clean the house as well as i could. well i didn't do much besides cleaning the bathroom, dusting and cleaning all the mirrors in the house. but then again, we're out of furniture polish and it wasn't cool enough to make me want to vacuum. but there's always tomorrow for that.

it was extra nice to clean since i was the only one home for a few hours...

tensions flare in the summer heat

you know how people say that tensions flare in the heat? its really true. well it sure helps to have MONTHS of tension build up before hand, but anyways.

today was a really bad day. except that i had a donut for breakfast. that's pretty awesome.

i had a pretty crappy day. to make it worse, it was really hot. its supposed to be super hot tomorrow and tuesday as well. i'm not looking forward to 90-100 degree temps. i'm also not looking forward to what it does to my motivation to draw.

i didn't want to draw ANYTHING tonight. not even the portrait. but i forced myself. i put on some music and did my favorite thing.  drawing over a blotch of color.

i really love doing this. it reminds me of retro art and printmaking.  it also forces me to start looking at everything in such a manner that i want to draw.

today is the weirdest. just sketchy portraits tonight. the shirt i was wearing today kept making my boobs look huge. it was embarrassing since i stayed home all day.  i made weird poses in the mirror. it was strange. and kinda creeps. i'll draw that pose better some day. it would be awesome for a monster to do. and of course.

sometimes having a sister is awesome. sometimes its like wading through a ton of shit. today was one of those days.

yesterday was beautiful weatherwise. so it was awesomely spent in the following ways:
1. sleeping in
2. eating an extra delicious, healthy, and fresh breakfast
3. eating slices of watermelon
4. playing fetch with a very happy dog
5. inking comic pages and discussing them, and
6. with my hair in the most ridiculous do, which required every hair clip i had with me.

also can you believe it? i've done 15 self portrait things. amazing. also it means that june is half over!
