hunger games

So I guess that all the cool kids are talking about hunger games right now, which is cool because I just drew this:

Peeta. Forever the boy with bread.
And I drew this, but i didn't feel like finishing it. maybe eventually perhaps:

Katniss and Rue sitting in a tree... k i l l i n g (everyone else) (not really)

In case you haven't read the series/seen the movie, have a very accurate summary:

The Gauntlet - day 7

today is still my birthday

The Gauntlet - day 6

the young bachelor
today (the 8th) is kind of my birthday so i'm not going to break out the scanner for today's pic. which means, today there will only be two posts.

The Gauntlet - day 5

oh little sisters. they can be so cute and annoying
in case you havent noticed. I really like sentimental, victorian and turn of the century fashions. though maybe this is starting to get into the 20s. hmn.  welp! I like it all!

The Gauntlet - day 4

July 4th's character is part of the story line that the previous 2 posts as well as the upcoming 3 posts are from.

the mother
If you're curious why these images are such low quality, its because I'm only going to post the "finished" version on Paperlinks which I'm now contributing to!

The Gauntlet- 31 Characters- day 3.

I don't really like posting things late, but oh well. I haven't been home.

a very walleyed bust of a father
this is the father character in a comic idea I have. it will be a very short story if i ever get around to it.

31 days of Characters- day 2's post.

no name metropolitan bride to be!
day 2's character from a comic idea that may or may not be made. I want to make it, but considering that none of the characters have names and that I currently think that none of them need to talk at all, its a bit difficult for me to even post them as characters here.

anyways. ruth has been nice enough to invite me (wednesday) and breena(thursday) to start posting weekly on Paperlinks along with herself (friday?) and rachel (tuesday).  how long will we remember to make weekly posts? the world may never know.  anyways. if you'd like to see any of our progress on this project (with added steroids) head on over to PL or to any of their blogs.

31 days of Characters- day 1's post.

As Ruth so kindly mentions in her post on July 2nd (or, more likely, July 1st at like 12:01am) I created a new 30 day challenge since I finished my 30 days of portraits. Originally, I just made it up for Rachel since she loves to create and redesign her characters.  I thought it would motivate her (even when she is busy) to draw and post on her blog everyday.  But the the challenge has been set.  I must also attempt the impossible and try to draw 31 (since july has 31 days) of my very own original characters.  Now, I don't think that I actually have 31 legitimate characters, but we shall see.

I have also been in san francisco hanging with those girls for the past six days, so i haven't exactly been motivated enough to push rachel out of her computer chair and to struggle with her comp set up so I can post here. So instead I'll try to catch up by double or triple posting here everyday.

Casey LeFleur from Jebediah

my phone just did a creepy thing.

it turned itself on even though it was never off.

also i just got home today from spending a week (okay 6 days) in sf.  those six days started off with a great visit to the De Young museum.  I saw all the balenciaga dresses again and drew more of them!  I also just started a new sketchbook and it only took me 4 days to figure out that the pages don't hold pencil well.

oh balenciaga. you are a master of shapes and covers.

not to mention this little nun-ish number that is not only navy, but incredibly cute!

beware. it gets ramble-y after this.

30days finished!

self portrait 30 out of 30
one of the stories i've grown up with is this family myth that my great aunt was a california raisin girl. like the girl that is pictured on a number of sunmaid raisin boxes.  this sort of idea as well as the fact that i always love the fruit crates that feature someone carrying a basket of fruit really inspired me to do this. well... i also went to the farmers market and ate a ton of fresh delicious cheap fruit today.

dress times

here's a great balenciaga dress i saw at the de young last weekend. i want to go again this week before the exhibit ends and before all the bank of america card holders get in free, both of which happen this weekend. we'll see how that goes. considering there's only two days left this week.

i've had a friend mention how much she always wished for a rounder face.  she always thought that type of moon shaped face was really beautiful.  I only found this out when she mentioned that my face was that shape.

26th of june

after getting home and sleeping off my hangover (which wasn't too bad except for the bags under my eyes and the light headache) i drew in the sunshine.

another balenciaga dress. and a sleeping corgi

25th of june

a lot of time on saturday was spent playing grown up dress up. or rather, just getting ready to go places. also imaginary dress up were you just do it in your head.

drunken drawing with a balenciaga dress? yes!

24th of june

on friday i headed into the city for a weekend of fun and much needed escape.  it just so happened that i got to have both well celebrating the birthday of one fabulous miss rachel.

the above is 2 of the 6 pages of quick sketches done on my bart ride.  there were so many giants shirts everywhere that i was slightly sad that i wasn't also heading to the game. but you know what?

22nd

it was really nice temperature-wise today, so it felt really nice to relax a bit. but it also was great to actually want to do something like obsessively clean the house as well as i could. well i didn't do much besides cleaning the bathroom, dusting and cleaning all the mirrors in the house. but then again, we're out of furniture polish and it wasn't cool enough to make me want to vacuum. but there's always tomorrow for that.

it was extra nice to clean since i was the only one home for a few hours...

comics are hard!

note: this was the post i was going to do yesterday.

i spent a majority of the day wallowing in the heat. but i also spent a portion looking at historical references for the comic project with rach. i feel like i could drown in all the possible info. so i've come to the conclusion that writing a historical comic (historical in the sense that the characters are set down in a very specific time period and must still adhere to the rules and social complexities of their settings) is hard.  but thank you amazon and my no money I've found a few sources that could be very exciting to flip through or you know, actually read.  i'm pretty excited about checking out if the local bibliotech has some of these resources. but i'm also pretty sad cause i'd rather work on getting this info down instead of reading the pile of novels i've already checked out of the library.  if only i actually felt like reading! if only i could finish a book in an hour! oh the horror that i read incredibly slowly but have equally incredible comprehension as a result!

anyways. portrait in the next post since i haven't drawn it yet.

instead have some james bard with a bg since i didnt draw coli or any of the other characters from this endeavor.
